Just Energy Transition (JET) Funding Webinar Series

The Just Energy Transition (JET) Funding Platform was established as a national matchmaking and preparation mechanism to enable communities, NGOs, organised labour, and municipalities to consistently submit fundable, Just Energy Transition (JET) -aligned project proposals.

However, there’s a gap between project readiness and funder expectations in the green economy. Of over 240 organisations that applied to the Just Energy Transition (JET) Funding Platform last year, fewer than 15% submitted viable applications. The gap isn’t always about project quality. Often it comes down to not knowing what funders expect and not having the right internal structures in place.

A series of webinars is planned and is free of charge to give access to insights from experts in green energy funding.

Webinar 1 was held on 23 April 2026 and focused on  the topic "strengthening your path to JET funding - institutional readiness". This free webinar is part of a series designed to help NGOs, CSOs, municipalities, local SMMEs, organised labour structures and community initiatives build the knowledge and preparation needed to access Just Energy Transition (JET) funding.

Webinar 1 gave an overview of the funding landscape, governance requirements, and institutional readiness. The following topics were covered:

- An intro to the Just Energy Transition (JET) Funding Platform: what has worked and what hasn't

- Why governance is central to a competitive application

- Breakout discussions on what makes a strong application

- What to expect from the next funding application window
